Lady Gaga and Doechii have dropped a fierce new collaboration titled “Runway,” the lead single from The Devil Wears Prada 2 soundtrack. The upbeat house-pop anthem was first previewed in the film’s final trailer. The track was co-produced by Andrew Watt alongside Bruno Mars, Cirkut, and Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II, bringing together two of music’s most formidable forces. The song has been sent to all major radio networks for wider promotion in preparation for the movie’s theatrical release in the coming weeks.

“No matter what, no matter what, you got to strut,” spoken in a sexy, deep voice, greets the listener, setting the tone for the next 2 minutes and 51 seconds. You are about to DANCE. Gaga and Doechii’s voices blend seamlessly on the track. Gaga’s delivery is really fun, flirty, and sassy, while Doechii’s is punchy, fierce and striking. The song is driven by a high-energy beat with a flashy, strutting rhythm.  Together, they lock into a chorus built around fashion and freedom, and the result is a track that blends Gaga’s pop sensibility with Doechii’s audacious rhyme schemes and raw energy, a cross-generational pairing that feels both surprising and inevitable.

“Runway” is straight out of the voguing underground ballroom scene that the queer community cherishes. It’s house pop, it’s 90s, it’s airy, it’s freeing. Even though this is a major movie release, it feels like it was made with the queer community in mind. It sounds like a RuPaul song in the best way — the voice and sound of a trailblazer, influencing modern-day pop. The song’s lyrics are laced with nods to queer culture throughout. “You were born for the runway,” echoes the spirit of Gaga’s iconic anthem “Born This Way.” By weaving in references to ballroom culture and queer aesthetics, the track positions itself within a lineage of LGBTQIA+ resistance through fabulousness.

This pairing brings together two artists who have been embraced by queer audiences. Gaga has been a defining figure of queer expression in pop music for over a decade and remains one of the biggest LGBTQIA+ icons in history, while Doechii, who has spoken openly about her sexuality and identity, continues to resonate with a new generation of music lovers. Together, they create something that feels purposeful — a track that not only suits the film’s high-fashion setting but speaks directly to the audience that has long claimed the original The Devil Wears Prada as a camp classic.
