Demi Lovato has released the deluxe version of her 2025 album, "It's Not That Deep," titled "It's Not That Deep (Unless You Want It To Be)." The deluxe edition features eight new tracks that boldly dive into fresh territory. These songs push the boundaries of pop, blending Lovato’s signature powerhouse vocals with daring lyrics, experimental production, and a sense of playful rebellion. It’s an album that knows exactly what it is: unfiltered, confident, and ready to start a party. Many of these songs, if not all of them, are overtly sexual, and all I can say is… Damn! Demi is HORNY!

The lead single of the deluxe chapter “Low Rise Jeans” opens, and I live. It’s hot, sexy and sets the tone. You can check out my full thoughts on that gem of a pop song in its own article! We got our first taste of a new Demi sound with “Love Controller.” It is the dance sound that encapsulates the rest of the project, but it's different. It is a variation of dance music that Lovato is exploring here; it's fresh, new and exciting. The track is dark and sexy. Popvatics will be living!!!

“Fantasy” houses one of the two collaborations on the record, this one being with Cobrah. This track is even darker than the previous; it's got this radiating alarm sound throughout it, as Demi and Cobrah go back and forth in the verses about the fantasies they want with men, before the chorus evolves into this orgasmic dance break drop with the two’s seductive vocal delivery intertwining with one another.

If “Low Rise Jeans” was the pièce de résistance of the deluxe tracks, “Confetti” is a very strong contender to follow. This track is HOTTTTT!!!! Lovato, at her most sexual, delivers whisper-like vocals as she compares male fluids to confetti. “Make it rain on me, Confetti.” She recites that she's doing moves that make strippers take notes: Alright Miss Thing!!! Building on this, "Confetti" is a sultry, provocative song that amplifies Lovato's unapologetic spirit with her vocals, layered over a pulsating beat, as she leans into playful, daring lyricism. The production incorporates deep basslines, enhancing the track’s sensual atmosphere. Demi’s confidence shines as she fully embraces her sexuality and pushes boundaries with her lyrics.

We enter hyperpop territory with the last few tracks on the deluxe. “After Hours” and “Nothing On But The Lights” are the best examples of this; they’re fun and explore a new sound for Lovato. She was a student at the Charli XCX college of Hyperop, and these two songs were her graduation assessments. "After Hours" bursts with shimmering synths, glitchy effects, and unpredictable drops, creating a euphoric, late night atmosphere that feels experimental and infectious. Lovato’s vocals glide seamlessly over the hyperpop production, balancing vulnerability and playful bravado. The lyrics tap into themes of liberation and nocturnal escapism. "Nothing On But The Lights" continues the adventurous sonic palette, with distorted vocals and a chorus that explodes with energy. The track is a celebration of desire and sex. Both tracks highlight her willingness to experiment and push her artistry into new, exciting directions, showing that she's unafraid to reinvent herself.

All in all, "It's Not That Deep: Unless You Want It To Be" is Demi at her most unfiltered and adventurous. The deluxe tracks swerve between sweaty club anthems, hyperpop experiments, and confessional moments, showing off every side of Lovato’s artistry. It’s the kind of project that doesn’t care if you’re here for the rhythm, the lyrics, or just a good time — it’s going to give you all three. Demi isn’t just cementing her place as a pop queen: she’s kicking down the door, pouring the confetti, and daring you to keep up.

So, is it really that deep ? Only if you want it be ;)
